Undergraduate and master’s students
We are open to hiring highly motivated undergraduate or master’s student(s) of all backgrounds at Northeastern University who are interested in contributing to our research while developing and strengthening research skills. We can discuss the possibility for part-time research or a co-op research position. Send me an email with a summary of your interests, relevant experience, CV, and a work sample (for example: a portfolio or a term paper that you are proud of).
Student researchers with more limited research experience would be expected to review and synthesize literature, and represent knowledge in writing or graphical format. We can work together to determine a topic that aligns with our interests and your skillsets. Other opportunities might also be available for students proficient in coding, structural analysis, data analysis, and machine learning.
I am also happy to discuss mentorship of a thesis topic of aligned research interests.

PhD students
Prospective PhD students are welcome to apply to work with me through CAMD’s Interdisciplinary Design and Media PhD program. We do not have much flexibility to hire outside of the regular application cycle, which has a typical deadline of December 1. You are very welcome to additionally email me with your interest and intent to apply, but due to volume of requests I may not respond to all emails. In your application and/or email, you are encouraged to attach any prior research publication(s) as part of your portfolio.
Northeastern also offers an Industry PhD where applicants complete the PhD as part of full-time employment. This option is well suited for applicants who want to continue at their full-time jobs and pursue research under my supervision that is mutually beneficial to their current employer. Feel free to get in touch if you are interested in pursuing this with me as an advisor.
Partnerships
Potential collaborators (academics, community partners, practitioners, etc.) with shared interests are welcome to reach out to me directly to discuss opportunities, such as pursuing funding for partnered research or sponsoring specific research projects.
We are also open to discussing partnerships that support student learning experiences, which can take many forms. Relatedly, you can learn more about Northeastern’s popular Co-op Program here, as well as the Industry PhD program.
Values
“When it comes to climate solutions, diversity of perspectives and approaches should be foundational; we need it to foster ingenuity and resilience.”
Dr. T. Jane Zelikova, ecologist / All We Can Save
Just as we strive to cultivate diversity in our research methods for addressing the environmental impacts of the built environment, we are also committed to cultivate an environment of equity, inclusion, and belonging in our research group. Prospective students from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. I am happy to discuss mentorship perspectives and expectations during interviews with prospective mentees as I believe in the importance of mutual fit.
